Fradley MP Dave Robertson invited Staffordshire Wildlife Trust to Bown Pond earlier this year, to show the Trust just what it brings to our area.
The Pond is a much-loved part of Fradley, but it has been hit by pollution incidents - at the end of last year and earlier in 2025.
Following an incident at the end of 2024, Mr Robertson wrote to the Environment Agency.
His letter read: “Residents report that the pollution caused a foul smell from the water and the loss of much of the wildlife that the pond supported, including a number of swans which the community greatly valued.
“I am aware that the Environment Agency has responded to the incident, is testing samples of water from the pond and is investigating what caused the issues here. I thank you and your teams for looking into this issue.
"However, many of my constituents remain concerned about this incident and want to know that it has been comprehensively dealt with.”
The Labour MP added: “What has the Environment Agency done to restore the quality of the water, both in the pond and downstream, including the nearby canal, to previous levels?”
The Environment Agency confirmed that both incidents had been dealt with and the water quality had been restored.
